Laryngectomees who require anesthesia or sedation (ie for dental procedure, or colonoscopy) often encounter health care providers that are not familiar with their anatomy and the proper methods for their ventilation. It is up to us laryngectomees to make sure that our care givers know how to deal with ventilating us especially in a case of an emergency. Having them view Itzhak Brook MD's video: Rescue Breathing for Laryngectomees and Neck Breathers on Youtube can ensure we get the right care.
